We are looking for an excited young person to join our team as a Junior SysAdmin. You will come to us with a great knowledge of *nix from the long hours spent tinkering with your own *nix systems. You’ll already be pretty good at bash scripting and general *nix SysAdmin tasks, even if only in a non-commercial capacity.
We are looking for someone young, enthusiastic and energetic. What you will receive, along with a fantastic group of colleagues who will support and encourage you, is pathway to being a full SysAdmin to one of the largest clusters in the world!
As well as data room tasks associated with managing a large cluster, this role includes desktop support of our 160+ internal users on a global scale, predominately on *nix platforms, but also includes some Windows and Mac desktops.

1. Technical Support
Provides technical support to ensure effective hardware and software performance.
Provides technical support in the installation and maintenance of hardware and systems software.
Analyses technical problems and recommends and applies required solutions.
Provides technical support and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure works, IT applications implementations.
2. Computing Environment
Assists in performing tasks to improve the efficiency, reliability, availability, and stability of the computing environment.
Completes tasks such as performance monitoring, tuning, and adjusting.
Maintains asset records of all IT user hardware to ensure ownership and tracking of all IT assets.
Maintains and tracks the software license record.
Address ticketing system and needs of customers in a timely manner. All work needs to be clearly documented and, where required, quality controlled.
4. Innovation and Technical Support
Participates in analysing of hardware and software alternatives and current trends and developments in technology.
Participates on special projects to meet department objectives.
Contributes to assigned functional projects by completing assigned tasks.
5. Vendor Relationships
Maintains relationships with local vendors and negotiates pricing to ensure maximum value for minimum cost.
Coordinates the purchase of end-user hardware and software.
6. Demonstrates support for overall goals
Demonstrates willingness to complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned in order to support the overall organization.
Participates in continuous quality improvement process and dedication to customer satisfaction.
Participates in developing individual skills set to meet today and tomorrow’s business needs.
7. Maintain and promotes the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions.
To reduce or eliminate industrial accident and health hazards in compliance with HSE standards and department safety procedures.
Comply with the Company’s HSE regulations and policy.
Cooperate with supervisory and management personnel to ensure the Company’s safety responsibilities are fulfilled.
8. Performing other related tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
9. Weekend on-call support on a rotational basis (subject to the team roster).
